PerfectWorld Open-Beta on July 18th!!





now that open-beta of PerfectWorld is nearing, i guess i’d better finish up on all the articles i wanted up before then… or else, i will have a hard time finding the time again for my posts…

what i forgot to mention in my last post was that i am a part of a clan within PW… one of the best clans out there, Clan Lotus, we are now actively participating in various activities within and without the clan, and basically making the clan a little more stronger… one of the activites we participated in was a test on the Territorial War together with the Holy Order of the Light [HOL], another great clan from PerfectWorld…

i have been thinking about this since the last time the Clan has participated in a test Territorial War, and i have several ideas regarding how to defend and attack…

[U]DEFENDING[/U]

since there are effectively 80 characters allowed to enter a map at the same time, i am thinking of leaving, at the very least, 3 parties with full complement for each of the entrances… with full complement for each party, i meant:

1 yao shou –> melee attacks
2 wu xia –> melee attacks
1 fa shih –> ranged attack and can be situated on the battlements [on top of the gate]
1 yao jing –> ranged
1 yu ling –> fullsupport, and no need to attack [sorry, but yu lings are most important in these cases for spam heals]

all they need to do is defend an entrance which is the 1st line of defense… or rather, help defend it since there are guard towers which are effective in what they do… if one of the entrances are being overrun by attackers, 1 of the other 2 parties [the one nearest, which are those from the middle entrance] can help in the defense of that entrance… if 2 or more of the entrances are being attacked, each party must stay in their designated defense zones and call for help from some of the attacking forces…

if, by a small chance, all of the entrance guard towers have been overrun and destroyed, all 3 party members will help in the defense of the center building which is the target of the attackers…

since the attack time is 3 hours, we can rotate the parties defending the entrances to give other parties a chance to attack, too…

for example:

80 characters divide by 6 to a party is equal to about 13 parties…

if 3 parties are left to defend, 10 parties will effectively be on attack mode…

after an hour, 3 parties from the attack mode teams will take over from the defending teams, giving the 1st 3 teams the chance to go on attack mode, and so on…

take note: only 1 general will direct the defense of the entrances and/or central building… all of the parties on defense mode must listen to this general and take orders from him/her… the general is not necessarily the clan leader… he/she is the one designated by the clan leader or one of the Fragrant Masters to be the general to coordinate the defense… DEFENSE WILL ONLY BE EFFECTIVE IF ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE DEFENSE TEAM WILL PLAY THEIR PART, LISTEN TO THE GENERAL, AND NOT PLAY AROUND OR GO ON LONG PERIODS OF AFK… this is not like a Ragnarok Online agit where there is only 1 entrance to the Emperium Room, and a player can go on extended periods of AFK since there are still other teammates to help out… please remember that all characters within the team, whether melee, ranged, or support, are very important to the overall defense of an entrance…

[U]ATTACKING[/U]

ok, here’s the part where going alone is not very advisable… i know, i tried it, and i was pounded a few hundred times, for me to really know what i am saying…

10 parties, huh?? :lol:

we need disciplined players for this to really work out…

we divide the 10 parties into teams of 5, and one team will attack the left entrance, while the other team will attack the right entrance, at the same time… at first, both attacking teams will need to clear out enemy teams and guard towers going to the entrances… since ranged and support characters are most often attacked 1st, a party must be like one cohesive unit who will defend each other, as well as attack enemies if needed… if a party has been left without a yu ling to support them, they must wait until their yu ling has respawned and joined them in the field… this is basically true for other characters as well, but the party can still go on the offensive… BUT, IF A YU LING HAS DIED, THE WHOLE PARTY MUST WAIT UNTIL SHE HAS JOINED THE TEAM AGAIN!! all 5 member-parties of each team must coordinate their attacks at the same time… a general must also be designated per attacking team and will direct the attack for his team… listen to him…

ok, that’s the easy part… now for the hard part…

once a team has gotten near an entrance, this is where all hell will break loose if there is no general to coordinate attacks…

with 2 guard towers to attack, and numerous others defending their entrances, attack must be coordinated enough such that one of the elements can be subtracted from the equation…and one of those immovable elements are the guard towers…

all melee characters, with their high damage, must immediately attack a guard tower, no questions about it… this also means that yao shous or wu xias must be the ones to bring catapults with them… simply pound those guard towers to dust till both of them are destroyed… ranged characters will help the melees by sniping at the enemies from afar… and of course, yu lings will spam heal all their party members, also from afar… once the guard towers are destroyed, the melees will turn on the defending enemies to gain control of the entrance… it will be very good to have 2 teams attacking 2 entrances to spread the ranks of the defenders thin… obviously, once the guard towers on both entrances have been destroyed, the defenders will consolidate the ranks within and around the vicinity of the central buildings, too…

each team will continue on with their current path since guard towers are still abundant within the base… continue pounding those guard towers till only 2 towers are up… those at the respawn site… leave them alone, they’re not that important…

after all guard towers are destroyed but the 2 from the respawn site itself, it is now time to concentrate on the central building… [is this the diamond?? i dunno…] 5 or 6 parties will concentrate on defending those attacking the central building from the enemies… remember, if you kill an enemy, there is only a small distance between you and that character before that character is before you again… one good thing is that there is a 30-second cooldown before that character can use their skills against you again… so pound them good within that 30-second interval… concentrate on the support… that way, without support, the melees are easy pickings…

just do this until we get control of their base…

take note of the following:

1. amulets/hierograms do not work in TW, so stock up on red and blue pots… please do not depend on the clan leader or the fragrant masters to give you pots… if they have pots to give you, good… but if they do not, buy your own… remember, you are in it for the fun, camaraderie, and the bragging rights once you get to own the base, not for the pots or the money…

2. pets are not allowed, either… so help in defending yao jings, too…

3. land mounts are allowed, though, so work on getting those from the beginning… they will be of great help in getting to your team members, or help other teams, much much faster…

4. LISTEN TO YOUR GENERALS!! most important of all if i ever said one… enough said…

5. you are there for a very important mission, not to play around!! if you are on defense, defend your guard towers and your teammates… if you are on the offensive, help in the attack and the defense of your more vulnerable teammates… if you are there to play around, better get out and give your slot to a more deserving member…

so, there… have all the fun in the world!! heh

    now i undrstand why other high level players from other pw versions told me that yaojings are useless in TW glance
