i wasn’t able to properly update this blog. for several reasons.. first, the terms ragnarok, RO, and everything pertaining to some game or another were being blocked by the office firewall, therefore, i can’t access this from there… when i get home in the afternoon from work [office time is from 6am to 3pm], i am so dead tired and sleepy, that was why i can’t even attend sieges during weekdays since i need to go to sleep early… and lastly, i have had no good materials lately that i can write on…

i hope to rectify all of that with this post… so just bear with me, ok?

Server Merge on the 17^th

the good news: there will be no server maintenance next wednesday in preparation for the server merge which will happen starting 12midnight of April 16^th…

the bad news: the server merge [and subsequently, the maintenance] will take about 20 hours [or more, judging from past regular maintenance]… but at least, engineers from Korea, who will be the ones doing the mergers, will not be doing it for the 1st time as they already have done the same things for other countries… that, at least, is a bit of welcome news…

now, for the mergers of the servers themselves, the following will be how it will look like once it is finished:

• Chaos and Loki – BALDUR
• Odin and Fenrir – TYR
• Sarah, Iris, and Lydia – FREYA

from the current of 6 commercial servers, discounting Thor and Sakray, there will just 3 servers serving more than 10 thousand users every day… this does not mean, though, that it is only 1 server in the case of Baldur, though… there are a host of servers backing this one up… trivia: do you know that Loki was optimized such that it can accomodate 10,000 online players at one time??

according to Waukeen, LU is currently looking for an assistant Brand Manager who will be reporting to him, and who will eventually take over his job as Brand Manager for pRO… with the eventual launch of pRO 2 sometime during the year, Waukeen will be moving over to that as Brand Manager…

updates on PerfectWorld closed-beta testers

it is now final!! PW-CBT will definitely be on this May… but when? your guess is as good as mine here… according to GM Tristan, the following are confirmend by today:

• The accounts are already being processed. They have the complete list of all GM Tristan Online winners and they will be e-mailing each and everyone of you. Be sure to keep checking your inboxes for instructions
• They are also finalizing the production of the “CD starter kits”. But there is no definite word on when this will be released. Apologies. I will update again soon.
• BUT… the PW team will put the client up for download for those who cannot come to the office via our site and torrent.
• Those who can come to the office, please wait for further announcements here on when you can come to claim the accounts and, if possible, the starter kits.

have you ever wanted an MVP monster drop but you weren’t able to get even one because of the following reasons?

• you are still low-levelled;
• you are not strong enough take on an MVP;
• though you are good enough, you cannot take on an MVP all by your lonesome; or,
• more often than not, a bot gets to your quarry first before you do

well, if you are any of the above, i have something that can give you an MVP drop without any effort on you part… none at all!! read on…

i am currently creating a soon-to-be biochemist… she is still a blacksmith at this point, though, but at a high enough level now to take on pasanas in Sphinx Lvl 5 but not strong enough to take on Pharaohs which drop Jewel Crowns and Solar Swords, two of the most sought-after MVP drops in Rune Midgard…

so, one day, while walking around Sphinx Lvl 5 killing Pasanas, i chanced upon this biochemist effectively killing a Pharoah… since he was the only one attacking the monster, he became the MVP and was obviously the recipient of any drops of the MVP… i dunno what happened, but when everything was done, the monster was dead, and the biochemist gone. on the floor [where nothing was before] were 2 items: a headgear and a weapon… both of them still unappraised… so, i got them both, immediately went to my savepoint, and appraised both of them…

here’s what i got:

i got both a Solar Sword and a Jewel Crown!!

from now on, i will not run away whenever i see an MVP monster… i will simply wait in the sidelines, and when a biochemist teleports in and kills the monster, its drops will surely be mine… hehehe…

so, i believe that’s it for now… will try update this as often as i can, though i’m not promising anything…
