iBlog3’s 1st day

(c) If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!! :)

(c)

IMGP6132so, i was in UP School of Economics early today [the wife and i actually arrived around 7:30 simply because we don't know the state of traffic in QC during Fridays] to talk about “Blogging101: setting up your 1st blog”, and it was kinda successful… kinda…

this was because most of my audience early in the morning were already bloggers themselves… you can count on your hands those who don’t have blogs yet, and they are those kids at the back of the auditorium where the event was held… if Janet Toral is reading this, maybe we can create a separate track specifically for those who don’t have blogs yet, and only for them… sayang kse yung opportunity to advocate kanina

anyway, i got to hear Lauren’s and her mom Noemi’s presentations, as well as Marcelle’s magic tricks… i left around 1pm [after lunch... hehehe... eat and run] because i still have something to do that afternoon…

and so, a rundown of the people/bloggers i met today:

and many others… whew!! i guess i’d see you guys again tomorrow, eh? you can find pictures of the 1st day here

Ciao, sweetie… 8)

new offerings from Krispy Kreme

(c)

crossposted in Kubiertos

was mildly surprised early this morning [about 8:30am] when a messenger came to the house looking specifically for me… when i went to the door to see what it was about, krispy_kreme-747709.jpgi was further surprised when the guy was reaching into a plastic bag for 2 boxes of Krispy Kreme’s… i thought that the wife wanted to surprise me and decided to buy me donuts [why? donuts, though? i don't like sweet eats] and have it delivered to the house… and then, the messenger pulled out a piece of paper out of an envelope and handed it to me along with the boxes of donuts… it turned out to be a letter from Krispy Kreme’s PR Blooey Singson… part of the letter says:

Krispy Kreme, America’s most loved doughnut, offers egg-shaped doughnuts in the spirit of Easter. We’d like to give you first bite of these doughnuts, that come in five designs and two flavors — chocolate and cream cheese. The Easter doughnuts are great for Easter egg hunts, too!

imgp5535.jpgi was eating one of the donuts as i was writing this, and it actually was good!! the usual sweetness and that melts-in-your-mouth features are a welcome change in my usual food…

here’s some additional info from Blooey sent via email:

Enjoy great value with Krispy Kreme’s Sweet Easter Treat when you purchase 1 dozen Assorted with Egg Shaped Doughnut and a medium Frozen Blend or Iced Espresso for just P379. Hurry! This offer is until April 15, 2007 only.

having penis envy…

(c)

every male [yes, including me], have at one time or another envied the package of the next man… we sneak a look at that bulge, and wished we have the same… or when we watch porno movies and we loook at the penises of known male porno stars Ron Jeremy, Mr Marcus, or the ever-famous-with-women-who-love-butt-plugs Peter North, men cringe when they do not measure up to these porno stars’ baggages… the length and the width are our main points of comparison…

and yes, yesterday, i suffered penis envy… but not the regular kind… what i really suffered from was camera envy… more to the point, camera lens envy… :$

cameras of all makes, models, and lenses of all sizes were on display at the 1st PinoyPhotography.org Badminton Tournament held at ClubBadminton in Makati City the whole day yesterday… photographers and badminton players, or both, trooped to Makati yesterday to join in the celebrations… some have played badminton till they dropped from exhaustion, some took photos of players and models that were all over the place, including Ms Daisy Reyes and Rachel Lobangco, or did both… and with Epson and Canon printers in attendance, shooters printed their images till they can print no more…

and the cameras??

goodness!! take a look at these babies!!

IMGP5434 IMGP5436 IMGP5439

aren’t they the beauties?? and i was exposed to them the whole day, and it took all effort on my part not to drool… a lot… :D okay, maybe a bucket or two, but definitely not more than that… there were even lenses which costs way more than 6 of my own Pentax K100D!! sheeessshhh… :S

anyway, one good thing that came out of that yesterday was me and my partner won the Men’s Doubles Level B championship… hehehe… i got a medal and an EPSON R270 Photo Printer out of it…

not bad at all for a typical sunday, eh?? for more of the pictures [you'll be so glad you looked at this set, believe me] go to my picture gallery

IWD badminton tournament

(c)

bakit kaya puro babae lang ang naglalaro sa all women badminton tournament?? :D

———–

iwd_4.gifon March 8, 2007, women from all over the world will celebrate the International Women’s Day 2007, but Accenture Philippines decided to celebrate it earlier with a badminton tournament over at Yonex Badminton Court…

all kinds and types of women came, not necessarily for the tournament or to vie for the trophies and medals at stake, but more so to celebrate their womenhood… there were short and tall, fat and thin women, married and singles, all kinds, really… and since i love women capturing images of people on camera [and the fact that my wife was playing], i went to celebrate with them…

IMGP4532 IMGP4539 IMGP4541

beautiful women came in droves to the All Women Badminton Tournament like they just came from a Miami plastic surgery [of course, they didn't] and played their hearts out, and when all the games have been played and all the trophies and medals awarded, they went home with smiles on their faces…

the International Women’s Day started in 1908, and since then, more and more countries are acknowledging it as an official holiday…

The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation feel that ‘all the battles have been won for women’ while many feminists from the 1970’s know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women’s visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think that women have gained true equality. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women’s education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men.

let us all, male and female together, celebrate March 8…

sailing seems so much fun

(c)

i stumbled on this gallery where a photo of the sailboat Adela, probably owned by George Lindemann Jr, and taken by Kurt Arrigo, was presented in all its glory…

the sweep of the sails, the angle the photo was taken, the foam around the boat, and the intensity of her sailors all contributed to one very nice photo…

i wish i can take photos like this… i wish i can experience sailing!! :D

i wish…

PBA gets off the ground

(c)

with talks about cameras [what is more expensive?? Canon or Pentax??], domain names [do you know this one person who insists on buying my domain name??], and gossips about other people [uyyyy, bakit ikaw may notebook tsaka pen, kame pen lang??] inserted in between, the initial meeting for the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards finally took off…

IMGP4468in attendance were: Gail and husband Marc, Jayvee, Bimbo, Juned, Abe, Karla, Migs, and yours truly… Jomar and Aileen of Google Philippines dropped by, too, but they left early to attend the Ituloy Angsulong Awards Night

anyway, we were able to establish the following sub-comittees to work for the next 34 days until the awards night on March 31:

  • Food & Venue - Noemi
  • Marketing & Sponsorship - Abe and Jayvee
  • Program - Carlo
  • Documentation - Elber and Juned
  • Stage & Decor - Jomar and Tina
  • Secretariat - Gail and Migs

and some of the people up there don’t even know they are now committee heads!! :D

they all wanted to go to the Ituloy AngSulong awarding after the meeting ended, but Gail and I were just in shorts like we were residents of senior homes, and we didn’t think the SEO people will appreciate that…

another meeting will be held tomorrow for those who did not attend today…

HOWTO: setting up a blog

constant edits will happen to this particular post… these edits will happen as often as i find new material, so come back often if you want to be updated… this will form part of the talk i will be giving during iBlog3: The 3rd Philippine Blogging Summit entitled Blogging for Newbies

(c)

with the rise in number of pinoy blogs popping up left and right, it is only assumed that setting up a brand new blog is as easy as A-B-C… we often forget that there are newbies who don’t have the faintest idea on how to start setting it up… so, how do you start a new blog??

there are several things you have to take into consideration and options you can choose from, software to use, server, hosting, blog genre, etc, etc… but first things first… what is a blog??

a blog is short for weblog, an online journal [or diary or newsletter] that may or may not be frequently updated, where the author posts informal journals: his/her thoughts, comments, and philosophies… it can be private or public… it can be a group blog, or a blog all your own…

dating guide for cool pinoys

(c)

the love month is now upon us, and for all those whose Christmas is cold, don’t let Valentine’s Day be equally cold, if not worse…

and, to all of you who doesn’t have a date yet, i pity you here is a dating guide so that you can finally experience that first kiss you’ve always been yearning for, but cannot seem to get…

i have this girl i’ve been eyeing… can i text or call her for a date??

by all means, communicate with her one way or another using your cellphone… she’d think you’re cool… or better yet, save up all those credits and simply text her something like “dig kta, dig mo me? date tau!!” or something along those lines… then wait by your phone the whole day, you just might miss her response… and when she does respond, don’t text right away… she might think you’re eager… and that’s uncool…

a friend is setting me up for a blind date… how can i be sure it won’t bomb??

because you are so cool and can’t be bothered to find your own date, you’d rather wait for a friend to set you up… if you go that route, your blind date is already on its way to blowing up in both your, and your date’s, faces… but if you really want to go ahead with the blind date, keep an open mind about it… to be really really sure, agree on what you both will wear, but you wear a totally different thing, then go to the location… scout her first, and if she’s nothing short of beautiful, simply tell her that you tripped over yourself going to the date that you messed up your clothes… but if she’s butt-ugly, then run like there’s no tomorrow…

but then again, an ugly date is better than nothing!!
