was cruising along Shaw Blvd yesterday when i saw this sign:

Saturday saw Apples and I, along with Wyse and yaya, at the SM MegaMall… the objective? for one, escape the heat of the day [no electricity, remember??], second, have lunch at the mall, and finally, to look at this baby…
the Pentax K100D is the latest in the Pentax line that will make amatuer photographers like me salivate… it has the famed Shake Reduction feature for a more blur-free [not necessarily nice to look at... hey! amateurs, remember??] pictures… it comes with the Sigma 18-50mm lens kit and is very reasonably priced… i actually started shooting pictures of my baby [real live baby, mind you...] as soon as i got my unit, took it out of the box, inserted batteries and SD card, and turned it on!!
the menuing system is very intuitive, especially if you’ve had experience with older digicams of Pentax… i’ve had with my trusty old Pentax Optio MX4 [which i am selling, by the way...] for a long time now, and i felt an upgrade would actually be nice… it has both manual and auto focus… a 2.5 inch LCD for playback of stills, and a host of other features which i have yet to find out and fully understand… this snippet from Cnet.com summarizes it all:

mind you, i can take nice pictures… but to take nicer pictures, i’d have to know what ISO sensitivity is, the difference between AF-S and AF-C, and what shutter speed to use when…
i still have a long way to go… but i hope, as you look at my pictures, you will be able to see the difference in quality… may not be able to get into the wedding pictures gig, much less a baby’s 1st birthday gig professionally today, but do watch out as i may surprise you one day…
for now, i think i’d take this baby to bed and tinker with her a little bit…
